We stumbled upon this gem tonight.
After mauling over hundreds of names, we finally buckled down and picked a name. I’m sure some people out there want to know how we came up with the name. Well, Brittany and I both wrote down a list of names that we liked. We went though each name and rated it on a scale of 1 to 10 on how much we liked the name. Then we compared lists and marked off names from each other’s lists that we just didn’t like. Once we settled on about 5 names, we looked at our new baby girl and practiced saying the name to her to see if it would fit. Nothing quite fit right. I found myself calling her Abigail for no reason. In fact, Abigail wasn’t on either one of our lists.
So, to help us decide if that was a good name, we put Abigail and two other names on the white board in our room and asked doctors and nurses to vote on the name. Our doctor loved Abigail and so did a few other nurses so we knew it was good name. Later that day, the name seemed to fit better and better into our family so we decided to go with it.
The middle name was much the same process, but we knew early on that “Page” would be Abigail’s middle name because it’s Brittany’s middle name and she’s always wanted a little girl with that would share her middle name.
I thought I’d share with everyone Brittany’s top 5 cravings she had with this last pregnancy (baby #2, also known as code named “Pickle”).
This white cheddary goodness was purchased many of times at a variety of grocery stores. Brittany can eat the whole bag in one night. Admittedly, so can I.
While we haven’t made it out camping this summer, it’s tough to go without a good s’more every now and then.
Ice Cream Sundaes
It’s nice to dive into a cool creamy bowl of heavenly ice cream. Even though it doesn’t get too hot here in California, we don’t have air conditioning and need a helping hand every now and then.
Peanut Butter Cups
Surprisingly, Brittany asked for these a few times and she needed to have these on hand towards the end of the pregnancy. PS They go great with ice cream sundaes (see Number 3).
Taco Time Crisp Bean Burrito
This craving was odd because the closest Taco Time to us is about 500 miles away so Brittany never actually got to eat one during her pregnancy. If anyone out there goes to a Taco Time soon, eat a crisp bean for the Brittster for me.
Only a few weeks left until we welcome the next little one in our family. I wonder what Brittany will be craving at the hospital?
Has anyone out there had some strange cravings during pregnancy?
Devin here. Brittany asked me to blog more often so I thought I’d blog about our most recent dessert experience. I’ve included the recipe in case anyone wants to eat it at home.
1. Car (or bike)
2. Costco card
4. One Tuxedo Chocolate Mousse Cake
5. Homemade vanilla ice cream (about 1 1/2 pints)
Preheat your oven to 0 degrees and head to your local Costco. Buy a Tuxedo Chocolate Mousse Cake. Take home. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1/4 of the cake with 1 cup of vanilla ice cream. Do not stir.
Enjoy. Repeat as necessary depending on type of day you’re having.
Although, it’s Thanksgiving today, I didn’t want to let another event slip by unnoticed…
Today commemorates the 30th anniversary of this:
The typical BYU romance. The 27-year-old senior going for the 18-year-old freshman. She never saw it coming and he was running out of time. Shortly after a not-so-run-of-the-mill proposal, they were married for time and sealed for eternity in the Provo temple a year after my mom’s baptismal date.
Nine months and 1 day later (give or take a day or two)….
Ok, let’s take a break.
Babies– check, check, check, check, check, check, and check.
Since 7 kids wasn’t fun enough, our family continued to expand.
First, there was Brittany…
then there was Katie…
and then Shawn.
Then the babies had babies.
First, there was Kaden.
and then came Katelyn….
and then Brooklyn…
and soon after Savannah, Scarlett, and Skyler (our little angel).
Rumor has it, there’s another one on the way…
Not ours btw.
2,434,323 animals and fish adopted.
21,868 diapers changed.
1,560 Saturday morning breakfasts inhaled.
227 happy birthday songs butchered.
143 Little Caesars pizza nights celebrated.
120 turkey dinners devoured.
118 camping trips endured
3 teeth-pulling agonizing family home evenings completed (all the way-ish).
Too many blessings to count.
All because two people made the decision to get married, 30 years ago.
30 down, 70 to go.
Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad.
Some of you may know that our small munchkin umbrella stroller was recently stolen from our apartment complex. We bought it at Wal-mart before our European trip and therefore it became part of our family since it was in just as many pictures as Katelyn.
Well, we left it in our carport one day and when I came home from work, it was gone. We looked and looked and couldn’t find it. Why would anyone want a beat up old stroller from Wal-mart? Well one night I spotted it at a nearby neighbors apartment. I found a picture of the stroller on my phone and asked a kid in the complex if he had seen it. Sure enough, the neighborhood kids had a ball with it. They gave it back and I got it ready as a “bonus” present for Brittany’s birthday.
We’re still sifting through some of the cutest moments of Katelyn’s career. She just celebrated her 1st birthday today (10-10-10).
Katelyn opened her first presents, took some pictures in the park, and had her first birthday cake. Here’s a preview picture, more to come!
