I have this habit. This bad habit. A habit of judging people by the shoes they wear. However, I’m pretty confident in saying that 9 times out of 10 there is at least some truth to my judgement.
When Devin and I first moved to Utah we quickly found out that there are certain people, though very nice, would never be in our tight circle of friends. The type? The pointed toed shoe girl.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve met plenty of girls who are nice and they wear pointed toed shoes. However, you just know that they are in a different realm of fashion and unfortunately, many are out to compete with other fashionistas. The time that my friend Emily and I realized that the PTS girl was different than use was when the shoes first started to become popular and Payless Shoes hadn’t started carrying them yet. Then you just knew that their shoes were from Nordstrom’s and would never be able to compete with my Payless or JCPenny sales rack comfies.
Even at this point knowing that I can get a pair of PTS at an affordable price, I know that I just can’t pull them off. I am still refusing to give into this silly trend though “slimming” they may be.
I still remember seeing an old roommate of mine when she was working in the mall. “Look!” she said. “I just bought my first pair of pointy toe shoes! They are so ugly but I just couldn’t avoid it any longer.” She’s a funny girl. More power to ya! I just can’t bring myself to do it.
